Emergency: Text with 9-1-1

If you are Deaf, hard of hearing or speech-impaired, you can text with 9-1-1. You must register with your wireless carrier first. In an emergency you still dial 9-1-1; the call centre then texts you.

On October 3, 2026, the official Text with 9-1-1 site still listed the service as available across Ontario and Quebec. Canada is moving 9-1-1 to a new network, and this texting service will be replaced. Check the official site before you count on it.

Blind or low vision: Be My Eyes

A free app that connects you by video to a sighted volunteer, for example to read a sign or find a stop pole. Volunteers are not transit staff.
