Public rider information
Priority seating
Every OC Transpo and STO vehicle has seats near the door for people who find it hard to stand. If your disability does not show, a free card can ask for the seat for you.
OC Transpo: Cooperative Seating
Cooperative Seating is at the front of the bus and by the O-Train doors, marked with a sign. It is for people with a disability, seniors, people using a wheelchair, scooter, walker or cane, people who are pregnant, and people with small children or an open stroller.
If you are in one of these seats and do not need it, offer it to someone who does. Many people need a seat for reasons you cannot see.
- Priority Seating card: free, for people with a disability you cannot see. Showing it asks for a seat without explaining.
- To get one, go to the OC Transpo Customer Service Centre at the Rideau Centre during business hours with government photo ID. They take your photo there. Their page lists which health professionals can confirm your need.
STO: courtesy seats
Courtesy seats are at the front of STO buses, marked with a sign. They are for people with a disability, seniors, people who are pregnant, and anyone with reduced mobility who does not use a wheelchair. The person in the seat must give it to you.
- Courtesy Privilege card: if your disability does not show, show this card and the rider must give you the seat.
- To get one, call STO Customer Relations at 819-770-3242, or through Bell Relay at 1-800-855-0511.
Other help on board
OC Transpo gives free destination cards: hand one to the driver and they tell you when you reach your stop. Bus hailing kits with large print and Braille route numbers are free too.
On this site, the "Get off next" alert on a trip page can buzz and speak when your stop is close.
Checked on the OC Transpo and STO websites on October 3, 2026. Their rules can change; their pages are the final word.
