  3. Trains right now

Train times right now are estimated from the operator's predictions set against its timetable. No train is seen.

Headway and run time compare what the operator predicts for the next trains with what the timetable gives for the same trains.

Headway now

  • The gap between the next two trains predicted at the reference station, in each direction, against the timetable gap for those two trains. With fewer than two predicted trains we say nothing.
  • Trains on the line counts trips the feed is predicting that the timetable has under way. It is not a count of trains seen.

Run time between stations

  • For two neighbouring stations we take the predicted time for the same train, and the median over the trains predicted now, against the timetabled time. Enough trains are needed.
  • A stretch is marked slower when it is clearly above the timetable.

Slow orders and since when

  • Slow orders are the operator's own notices, with the time each became active. That time is announced by the operator, not measured by us.
  • How a run time compares with its usual, and whether the change is real, are not measured yet. We keep no run time history.

Where the numbers come from

  • OC Transpo live trip updates
  • OC Transpo service notices
  • Published timetables, dated

Method version and change log

A published month never changes. If a method is revised, past months keep the method they were worked out with.
