What Otranspo costs to run, and who pays.

Rider information stays free, with no ads and no data sold. Donations help pay for hosting, live data, accessibility testing and French review. They never buy a say in what we publish.

Every cost, line by line

What a donation does, and what it never does

It pays for

  • Servers, the database and backups
  • Maps and the live data feed
  • Accessibility testing with riders
  • Reviewed French, and other languages next

It never buys

  • A say in what we measure, grade, investigate or publish
  • Ads: there are none
  • Your data: it is never sold
  • A request for money inside Next bus, Plan, Alerts, the map, accessibility or a trip in progress

How to donate

  1. Choose once or monthly, and an amount

Any amount from $2 to $5,000 CAD. The Donate page shows the limits, your privacy choices and how to get a refund before you pay.

  2. Pay on Stripe’s page

Your card or bank details go to Stripe. Otranspo never sees or keeps them.

  3. Keep the private receipt

Use it to stop a monthly gift, ask for a refund, dispute a charge, or delete your contact details.

Takwá:wiOtranspo is not a charity, so there is no tax receipt.
The full statement, and who is responsible

What donations do, and what they do not

Otranspo does not show advertising, sell rider data, charge for core rider journeys, or place fundraising prompts inside departures, trip planning, alerts, maps, accessibility, or active-trip flows.

Donations help cover hosting, data monitoring, accessibility, and reviewed translation. They do not buy influence over evidence, scores, investigations, or editorial decisions.

How the secure checkout works

The donation page shows the amount limits, privacy choices, and refund or dispute path before checkout.

  • When the live funding panel says checkout is available, one-time and monthly support is accepted in Canadian dollars through a Stripe-hosted checkout. A closed or local-simulation state sends nothing to Stripe.
  • During live checkout, card and bank details are entered only on Stripe and are never stored by Otranspo.
  • A contribution is voluntary and is not represented as tax-deductible; no charitable tax receipt is issued.
  • Private receipts support refunds, disputes, recurring-payment management, and deletion of optional contact details.
